I’m parting with my 2012 Skoda Octavia Estate – the one I’ve had for over a decade, mostly family trips and long weekend drives around Crediton, Mid Devon. It’s a solid TDI, 1.6 litre diesel, and has been well looked after – no major issues, just regular service and careful use.

Inside, it’s comfy with roomy seats and a clean, quiet cabin. The rear parking sensors and dual climate control keep things nice, especially when you’ve got kids or a stroller in the back. I’ve never had to fix the air conditioning, and it’s been running smoothly for years.

Fuel economy’s been solid – I’m talking 60+ miles per gallon, which is great for a diesel estate. Low CO2 means cheaper running costs, and it’s in a low insurance group, so it’s not a big outlay if you're thinking of keeping it. The boot’s generous too – plenty of space for groceries, camping gear, or even a full-size suitcase.

I’ve used it for all sorts of things – school runs, weekend getaways, weekend trips to the coast – and it’s always been reliable. It’s not flashy, but it does what it’s meant to do.

Price’s £1,791 – not a lot for a car that’s been this reliable. If you're looking for a practical, low-maintenance diesel estate that’s not going to break down, this one’s been a solid companion for me.
