Description

I’ve had this piece for years, passed down from my grandma’s side of the family — it’s a real treasure. It’s a vintage Chinese silk embroidery panel showing a floral spray with a butterfly, stitched in fine handwork using vibrant silk threads on a warm gold silk background. There’s a decorative border around the edge too, which adds to the old-world charm.

I found it in a box tucked away in a closet at my granddad’s old house in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, and it’s been sitting in a display frame ever since. The frame is wood, with glass protection — it’s ready to hang and looks great on any wall.

It’s from the mid-20th century, likely, and the embroidery itself is in very good condition — colours are still bright, though there’s a little bit of fading at the edges and some light marks on the frame, which makes sense given its age.

I’ve kept it in a safe spot, mostly just showing it off at home. I’m not selling it for profit, just passing it on to someone who might appreciate the detail and history. It’s not a big piece, but it’s one of those things that feels special when you look at it — a quiet piece of traditional Chinese textile art.

It’s worth about £49.50, but I’m not going to say that. Just thought someone might find it interesting.

If you’re curious, I’m happy to send a photo or show it in person — no pressure at all.
