2008 Gary Fisher Marlin GS 17" Mountain Bike with RockShox Dart 2 Forks
Description
So, I’ve had this 2008 Gary Fisher Marlin GS 17" for a few years now, and I’ve actually taken it apart and fully cleaned it — not just a quick wipe, but deep down to the frame and internals. It’s not perfect, but it’s been well looked after and runs pretty smoothly. The forks are RockShox Dart 2s, both with full function — preload, lockout, and rebound all work fine. One stanchion has a bit of light pitting, but it’s not a dealbreaker and the forks still move like a charm.
Groupset is Shimano Deore and Alivio — decent for the time, solid shifting and brakes. Brakes are Deore LX Servo Wave levers with v-brakes front and rear. Wheels are Bontrager Camino with disc-ready hubs, and the tyres are Jones XR — front 2.25, rear 2.2, both in good shape.
I’ve serviced it properly, changed the chain, cleaned the drivetrain, and everything’s been checked. The frame is gold series butted aluminum, Genesis geometry — it’s a bit chunky, but stable and good for trail riding.
It’s not flashy, and I’m not selling it for a big price — £135. But if you’re into bikes that still work and have a bit of character, this one might be your kind of thing.
I’m based in Westbury, Wiltshire, so delivery or courier is possible — I’ll do it within 50 miles, and I’ll charge 50p per mile with a minimum of £5. I’m happy to take it as-is, no fuss.
It’s not new, but it’s not broken — just a bit worn in places, and honestly, I’ve used it a lot. If you’ve got a bit of trail time in mind, it might be worth a look.
