Description

I’ve had this JVC A-X1 amplifier for years — it’s one of those vintage HIFI amps from 1980 that just feels right. I got it when I was setting up a proper audio system in my home studio, and even after years of use, it still plays with that clean, warm sound you get from analog gear. The silver finish is classic, and it’s a solid piece with a clean build.

It’s an AB class stereo amp, so it handles both left and right channels separately, and puts out 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The sound’s punchy but smooth — not too aggressive, just rich and natural. I’ve used it with a range of speakers and turntables, and it holds its own even on a budget setup.

It’s not flashy, but it does what it’s supposed to — deliver that vintage, analog vibe that’s hard to replicate today. I’ve kept it well-maintained, and it’s been sitting in a good spot in my room since I bought it.

It’s in good shape, and I’m parting with it because I’ve been upgrading my system. It’s only £54, so it’s not a big loss — just a chance for someone who appreciates good old-school audio to get their hands on a real piece of HIFI history.

It’s currently in broughton-chester, Chester Road. I’ll take a quick look if you’re local and want to check it out.
