So, I’ve got this old VW Golf — 2007, manual, 3 doors — and I’m finally getting rid of it. It’s been in my family for years, actually, my brother had it first, and I took over after that. He kept it well looked after, and I’ve been doing all the servicing myself ever since.

It’s got a solid 180k mile history, but the engine’s been strong through it all — never let us down. Last year I had a bit of a rebuild: new discs and pads all round, a full clutch job with a dual mass flywheel, and I even replaced the clutch slave and master cylinders — that was back in 2023, only 1500 miles after.

For the MOT, I had to do front shocks, rear springs, and new tyres — all done. It’s had a 3-month MOT already, but I’ll go through a full 12-month one before it goes out.

Now, the bits that aren’t perfect — paint’s not great, especially on the roof and around the windows, there’s some lacquer peel. The side wings are matte finish, not gloss like the rest of the car. Also, it’s been remapped, and the DPF and EGR have been removed — I know it’s not ideal, but it runs better and I’ve kept it on the road for a long time.

It’s not a fancy car by any means, but it’s reliable and has a good heart. I’ve used it for years, and it’s still kicking.

Price is £1,125 — fair for what it is. I’d be open to swaps, especially if you’ve got a van. Private plate not included.
