What a rare car indeed. SAAB 9000 2.3 Petrol Turbo CSE Anniversary Edition Automatic (197 BHP) finished in Scarabe Green Metallic Coachwork with Twin Tone Mushroom and Cream Special Quality Leather Upholstery, and Burr Walnut Veneers. The Anniversary edition was to commemorate 50 years of SAAB production car sales. The car is incredibly original and stock in specification and it is lovely to see an unmolested example. The only modifications I can see are the addition of a performance high capacity radiator and pipework, and removal of the air conditioning radiator and associated air conditioning components. First and foremost, this SAAB drives superbly. It is still a very fast car indeed and will put most modern rubbish to shame. The gearbox is spot on with seamless gear changes and kick down. The steering is lovely and smooth with no play from the rack or suspension. The brakes are good, it tracks wonderfully with no pulling or wheel wobbling, it really is a fantastic car to drive. The interior fixtures and fittings are all in good shape, as are the carpets, door cards and roof lining. The upholstery overall is in great condition, with the usual wear and cracking to the leather in areas on the seats. That said, no horrible rips or tears along the seams or bolsters and still very presentable and comfortable. The all round electric windows and mirrors are fully working. The remote central locking is fully working. The stereo, speakers and electric aerial are fully working. The trip computer is fully working and the addition of precise engine temperature gauge is also working and mounted on the dashboard, this is in addition to the working temperature gauge in the instrument cluster. The interior lights on the instrument cluster and overhead are fully working, with no dashboard warning lights except a check radiator light on start up, which is presumably due to the radiator being upgraded for better cooling efficiency. A few items are not functional, these include the drivers seat height adjustment lever, the internal boot release button, and of course the air conditioning. The car keeps temperature around the low to mid 90s with no oil or water consumption. The bodywork is all there and complete with no rust showing. The paintwork is still bright and shiny with some car park dings and touch ins, commensurate with a 28 year old vehicle. It does however still sit very proud of itself indeed. The car would suit an enthusiast to either enjoy it as it is or improve upon as they so wish. The engine bay is very clean and tidy and the engine fires straight up with no unwanted noises or smoke. The door shuts, door bottoms and boot are all nicely presented with no corrosion or issues. Spare wheel and toolkit are still present, as is the parcel shelf with no horrible speaker hole cut outs. The car has a lovely compendium of service history paperwork. Between 2021 and 2022, the car received a thorough mechanical & electrical overhaul by an Independent SAAB Specialist Engineer. Works included a full engine, gearbox, coolant system and brake service. Re securing and replacing worn electrical & mechanical components such as repairing and or replacing various hoses, high level brake light, washer bottle, wing mirror mechanism, heater matrix, turbo boost gauge hose, blown bulbs in instrument cluster, ignition module, indicator relay, waste gate actuator, air sensor, rocker cover vacuum connector, starter motor, engine upper torque link bushes, radiator, thermostat, temperature sensor and more. In 2024 the car benefited from an overhaul to the engine including a new head gasket, head bolts, valve stem seals and Lamba sensor. The paperwork we have documents all the above works and much more between 2005 and 2024, totalling in excess of £4,000. There is also the original SAAB book pack with operating handbook and service book, with radio code, showing 11 service stamps up to 129,102 miles in November 2021. The car has never been off the road with complete MOT history online, even throughout COVID and physical copies in the service history for the last 15 years.
