Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 with 3GB RAM and 17" monitor
Description
So I’ve been keeping this thing in my garage at home in otley, West Yorkshire for a while now — it’s not really for work, more of a backup machine for my home setup. It’s a Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 with a Core2 Duo E6550 processor (2.33GHz), 3GB of DDR2 RAM (split into 2x512MB and 2x1GB), and a Fujitsu Siemens Scenicview X17-1D 17" monitor — 1280x1024, with speakers and VGA only. The keyboard is a USB one with a few extra buttons, which is handy for typing.
The desktop has a lot of ports — USB, ethernet, eSATA, VGA, parallel, and serial — and two PCI slots. I’ve got the cables all sorted: two mains cables, one VGA to the monitor, and an audio cable.
Important notes: no mouse included, so you’ll need to buy one (USB only). No Wi-Fi built in — you’ll either need to plug in an ethernet cable or add a PCI wireless card. And sorry, it won’t run Windows 11 — the CPU is too old.
But I’ve got Linux Mint 21.3 64-bit installed, so it’ll work fine for browsing, office stuff, and general use. I’ve used it for a few things like file transfers and light web stuff — not much heavy lifting, but it’s been reliable for what I needed.
It’s not super flashy, but it’s been sitting around doing nothing and I figured I’d give it a new life. Price is £27 if you're interested — just a small amount, honestly.
If you’re someone who doesn’t need the latest hardware or just wants a solid, quiet machine for basic tasks, it might be worth a look. Just don’t expect anything fancy.
