I’ve had this old ARP bell for years, passed down from my gran. It’s a solid brass bell with a wooden handle, engraved with G&J and 1939 — clearly from the 1930s/40s. The wood is a bit worn, but the bell itself is intact and rings well. Found it tucked away in a box behind a cupboard in my Spalding, South Holland home. It’s not fancy, but it’s a real piece of local history. I’ve used it a few times for a school project, and it’s been a nice reminder of how people prepared for air raids back then.
