Marvel Captain America #251 (1980)
Description
Got this one from my dad’s collection – it’s Captain America #251, published August 1980. The issue has that classic Batroc vs Mr. Hyde bit where he’s freed from Ryker’s Island and ends up on a floating barge, asking for the five million dollars Hyde promised. Pretty solid plot for the time. It’s in fairly decent shape – 6.5 grade, which is the baseline for most collectors, but honestly it’s not bad at all. There’s a bit of edge wear and some small marks, especially on the cover, and the pages are a little yellowed, but no brown edges. The staple’s a bit loose, but if that’s the case, the rest of it’s still very flat and clean.
I’ve kept it stored properly over the years, so it’s not exactly pristine, but it’s not dusty or damaged. British comics tend to have more corner curl and spine wear, so that’s not a surprise. Still, it’s been read a few times and handled gently. It’s a bit of a nostalgic piece – I remember flipping through it when I was a kid.
Sold for £8.99, but I’m not putting a price in the title like I should. Just thought someone might find it useful or interesting. It’s sitting in a box at honley, Station Yard now – if you’re local, feel free to pop by.
