Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon (CSW)
Description
So, I’ve got this old Land Rover Defender 110 County Station Wagon (CSW) from 1997 — 300 TDi, 114,000 miles. It’s not flashy, but it’s been through a lot.I bought it in 2010 and it basically became our adventure machine. We took it all over Europe — France, Spain, Morocco — on that last trip before we moved to Australia. After that, it got cleaned, stored properly, and stayed in a dry, well-ventilated barn for years. I kept it running occasionally just to keep the engine alive, especially during the pandemic when everything else slowed down.
Last year, I finally got it back on the ground and had it checked out by Tony at Lagjander in Salterton — a proper independent Land Rover specialist. He did a full job: cleaned and rebuilt the diesel injection pump, drained and flushed the fuel system, replaced all filters, and everything else that needed it. The car runs smooth now, and I’m pretty happy with how it’s come back to life.
It’s got a bunch of bits that I’ve kept around — front runner roof rack, rear access ladder, front bullbar with a 9000lb winch, safari snorkel, mobile storage, a genuine cargo barrier, rear window guards, a rear entry step, and the rear bench seats (taken out but included with everything — belts and brackets too).
It’s been in storage for over a decade, mostly untouched, and I’m not sure how many people have seen one of these in such a well-maintained, low-mileage condition. The 300 TDi engine is legendary — not much use, just a bit of running, and it’s still holding up strong.
I’m based in Australia now, so I can’t go down to Devon to show it, but I can arrange viewings with family when it’s safe and convenient. If you’re interested, just send me a message — I’ll get back to you, no matter what time it is (as long as it’s not midnight down under 😄).
