Harris Lebus Tallboy Chest of Drawers
Description
I’ve got this 6-drawer Harris Lebus tallboy chest of drawers — it’s from the 1950s/60s and I’ve actually been meaning to part with it for a while now. It’s a solid piece, well-made with proper dovetail joints, and the 6-drawer version is rare compared to the 4 or 5 drawer ones. I sanded it down and gave it a good wax, and it’s painted in Farrow and Ball’s Elephant’s Breath — that’s a nice, soft grey, not too flashy. The drawers are lined with wallpaper, which gives it a bit of character. The Scarab handles are original, which I found kind of cool — it feels like a throwback to the Tutankhamen fever of the 50s/60s. It’s in great shape overall, and I’ve even kept a small touch-up pot of paint just in case. It’s 122cm tall, 77cm wide, and 44cm deep. I’m moving out of Baldock, North Hertfordshire, so it’s only going to be going to someone who’s willing to collect it. I can do a drop-off in the area or arrange a delivery if it’s not too far from Surbiton — just let me know. It’s not a big deal, just something I’ve had for years and am now downsizing to. Price is £270, but I don’t want to talk about it much — just thought I’d share it.
