Description

So, I’ve got this old Fender Nate Mendel Precision Bass — the one he’s played through Sunny Day Real Estate and then the Foo Fighters. It’s a 1971-style model, and honestly, it’s been through a lot. The candy apple red finish is slightly worn, which makes sense — it’s not showroom fresh, but it’s got real character.

The neck’s maple with a gloss nitrocellulose finish, slim “C” shape based on Nate’s original, and the fingerboard is rosewood with 20 frets and white pearloid dot inlays. I’ve kept it pretty well maintained over the years, but it’s not a pristine instrument — you’ll see the kind of wear you expect from a long career, like small dents, slight fret wear, and a bit of age on the finish.

It’s got Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups, a vintage-style HiMass bridge, and the classic Fender ‘70s open-gear tuners. Strings are the Fender 7250M nickel-plated, long scale, and the hardware’s all chrome — pretty much as it came out of the box.

I’ve played with it quite a bit over the years, so I know how it behaves. I’ve got a whole collection of other basses, amps, stands, leads, tuners, and all that jazz — if you’re into getting started, I can point you to a few extras.

I’m in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, and I can deliver it for fuel costs if needed. I’m happy to sort out courier too, within the UK. If you’ve ever played a bass that just feels like it’s been through the fire, this one’s a real keeper.
