Description
I'm downsizing my keyboard collection. Please see my other listings. This is not "your grandfathers" organ. Notice the black body and tinted perspex cover. Yamaha was deliberately trying to distance itself from the wood veneer (piece of furniture) feel of every organ since the original Hammonds. Its also stuffed with loads of voices like strings and guitars, and choirs, etc. Theres also a complete DX21 synthesiser in there somewhere which I haven't even bothered to look for. I have an actual DX21 so why bother. but essentially this is an orchestra in a box with a synthesiser, and far too complex for me because I never spend the time to read the manual and figure things out. I've owned these for over a year and only last week did I discover how to use rhythms/percussions and automatic chords. If I remember, these were £5,800 new, back in the day. You could buy a modest house for that, somewhere. This was the top HS model. So... why do I have two? Well... 2 broken ones were on eBay at the same time, so I thought, if I buy them both I might be able to fix one of them. I fixed them both! One needed both amplifier chips, which I ordered from Germany and installed. The other one needed one amplifier chip and was in bits and someone had chopped a load of wires, some, just millimetres from a plug that could have been unplugged! Fortunately I had bought the guts of another Yamaha organ, and those pieces allowed me to replace the cut wires and a few other bits. one of them had pedals that didn't operate well, but changing the rubber washers, cured that. Of course, while I was in there, I vacuumed out all the dead bugs and dust, etc. They both now operate perfectly. One has a couple of dings on one leg (see last picture). they come apart into two pieces (split just below the main body), or four pieces; main body, two uprights, base/pedals, so in four pieces it will fit in a hatchback.
