This 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe is one of the nicer ones I’ve come across in a long time. It’s been sitting in Stanningley, Pudsey, and has been properly looked after over the years.

It’s a UK-market car, first registered in April 1955, and came straight from Henlys London through Rose & Young Ltd – the same dealers who sold it new. The original owner was based in Norwich, and it’s stayed in the UK since day one.

Key bits:
- Matching numbers – engine and cylinder head confirmed with the 1955 logbook
- Factory-fitted rear wheel spats and steel wheels – rare, and still original
- Black body with red leather interior – classic look, with that nice patina over time
- Just four previous owners, with a long-term keeper since 2006

- Engine and gearbox professionally refreshed by Jaguar specialists, but still feels like it’s been treated with care

I’ve got the full history file with me: original logbook, service records, a sales brochure from the era, a copy of the XK Gazette from 2015 that actually featured this car, old MOTs, tax discs, and invoices for the work done at Twyford Moors.

It drives really well – not flashy, but smooth and responsive. The interior has that old-school charm, and the car holds together like it’s meant to. The original steel wheels with spats are a real find – not many of these around.

I’m not selling it for a lot – it’s been reduced from £49,995 to £40,495.50, which feels like a fair bit for what it is. Still, it’s a solid, original car with real provenance.
